Shoes for Ballroom Dancing

If you are enthusiastic about dancing then at some point you are likely to purchase dance shoes. On many floors they offer considerable advantages. They provide the right amount of grip, they have flexible toe regions and provide extra support at the instep, and they are lightweight.

Supadance

My current shoe is made by Supadance. It has a split sole which makes for a more flexible front of the shoe while still providing extra support at the instep.

Freed

My previous shoe was made by Freed. It was one of the earliest of the more flexible designs. Before the split sole came along greater flexibility in the shoe was achieved by thinning the sole and using a very soft upper.

DSI

I have never worn a DSI shoe. However, one of my early teachers preferred them, and a pair of exceptional past World Champions also recommend (promote?) them. My old teacher said they lasted longer than a certain other make he had tried ...
